PostHeaderIcon Etiquette and Manner of Eating in Islam - 2

This is a continuation of the last presentation under topic of the week. If you missed the last topic and earlier presentations go to the website www.umpro.org and visit “Topic of the Week”.

Before you start eating say Bismillah. Allah will put His blessing in the meal.  We are looking for Allah’s blessing in whatever we are doing. Keep clean the place where you are eating.  You should finish all the food in your plate. The bits that fall should be picked and eaten.  May be that is where the blessing is. Umar bin Abu Salamah reported: Messenger of Allah  (SAW) said to me, “Mention Allah’s Name, eat with your right hand and eat from what is near you.” Al-Bulhari and Muslim.

Aisha reported: Messenger of Allah (SAW) said when any one of you wants to eat , he should mention the Name of Allah in the beginning . If he forgets to do so , he should say  Bismillah awwalahu  wa akhirahu( I begin with the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end) (At-Tirmith and Adi Dawud).

1.When eating you are advised to apportion your stomach in the three sections. Each section is about a third of the stomach, each for food, water and breathing.
2.You should eat just enough to survive. That is recommended by Nabbi Muhammad (SAW)  not to  blow at hot meals, let it cool. There is Allah's blessings in warm meals.
3.It is not recommended to drink very cold water after meal. It can be fatal.
4.It is not allowed to use two hands when eating. It is not allowed to eat and drink at the same time because it dilutes the environment for proper functioning of enzymes.
5.It is recommended leaking figures before washing because you may wash away the blessing in the meal you took.
After eating  say  Al-hamdu lillali
We shall continue from here. Inshallah.
